Dallaglio RugbyWorks rolls into Daisy Inclusive UK

Dallaglio RugbyWorks visited Daisy Inclusive UK to deliver a two-hour long session to beneficiaries attending the charity’s Mini Smile Easter Holiday Club.

Using the power of rugby to support young people aged 12-18 who are experiencing school exclusion, Dallaglio RugbyWorks provides opportunities for young people to be more prepared for life after school, by providing employability opportunities such as a CV development and interview practice.

They also work with a variety of employers to provide ‘Career Taster Days’, day trips to experience the workplace first hand which helps to increase a young persons likelihood of being in employment, education, or training post-18.

Northwest lead coaches Ethan Bryce and Ryan Snow ran a fun session for children and some of the older beneficiaries, who wanted to channel their inner Jason Robinson.

“It’s about giving young people an opportunity to try new things,” said Ryan.

“One boy, who was mad on football, picked up a rugby ball for the first time today and he thoroughly enjoyed it. He came up to me at the end of the session and thanked me for the experience, which was really lovely.”

Dallaglio RugbyWorks, which was the brainchild of England Rugby World Cup-winner Lawrence Dallaglio, works in challenging environments across the country including Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham, Leicester, Cardiff, Wandsworth and Luton.

“Even though we place an emphasis on the rugby side of things, we do focus on a lot of other things centred around life skills,” said Ethan.

“We focus on improving a young person’s communication, teamwork and self-belief. As they get older, you can start to mentor them on things like writing a CV and applying for jobs.

“Things they actually need going into the real world.”
