Daisy’s inclusive sports tournament takes city by storm

Daisy Inclusive UK recently hosted their annual Merseyside Inclusive Sports Tournament (MIST Games) at Anfield Sports & Community Centre as the inspiring charity once again highlighted how sport can be a vehicle for helping disabled and vulnerable people reach their true potential.

Funded by the Peter Harrison Foundation, the event attracted a variety of organisations including Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire & Rescue, The Brain Charity, Victim Care, Your Voice Your Choice, Widnes Vikings Rugby League Club and Samson Security.

As well as games such as wheelchair rugby league, blind penalty shootout, tug of war and wheelchair basketball, participants were treated to a visit from the mounted police horses, therapy dogs and the armed response unit.

Dave Kelly, CEO at Daisy Inclusive UK said: “I’m absolutely overwhelmed by the sheer support that the event received from the community across this fantastic city of Liverpool.

“Everyone commented on how much fun they had and that’s the most important thing. Thank you to the Peter Harrison Foundation for funding the event and to the emergency services who gave up their valuable time to inspire our beneficiaries and participants.

“It’s important that we build on the success of this event and make next year’s even better.”
