Daisy Inclusive UK is excited to announce that they will be hosting their annual Merseyside Inclusive Sports Tournament at the Anfield Sports and Community Centre on Thursday 31 July.
Organised in association with Merseyside Police and funded by The Peter Harrison Foundation, the event will see disabled and non-disabled people taking part in a series of sports activities, including wheelchair basketball, tug of war, wheelchair relay and blind penalty shootout.
Merseyside Police will also be in attendance along with Rapid Response, Armed Response, Cadets, Fire and Rescue and Victim Care – enabling youngsters, carers and parents alike to learn more about the different organisations.
Founded in 2004 by community icon Dave Kelly, Daisy Inclusive UK helps disabled and vulnerable people as well as their families across the city of Liverpool. The charity, which promotes physical activity and positive mental wellbeing, continues to go from strength-to-strength under the guidance of CEO Dave Kelly who went blind at the age of 30 in the early 1990s.
“Last year’s MIST Games was a success and we’re looking forward to hosting the event again, this time at Anfield Sports and Community Centre,” said CEO Dave Kelly.
“We’re hugely grateful to Merseyside Police for supporting us with the extra activities taking place on the day.
“Here at Daisy Inclusive UK, sport and physical activity is at the forefront of what we do in order to stimulate the minds of our many beneficiaries. The MIST Games highlights how sport is open for all.
“The MIST Games is not only for disabled people – it’s also an opportunity for groups of people from a particular workplace to join us and get stuck in as part of a team building session.”
Rapid Response will be in attendance, providing food, while Armed Response will have stalls and Merseyside Fire & Rescue will be setting up games and activities outside the venue.
