Daisy Inclusive UK receives funding for community scheme

Daisy Inclusive UK have received £5,000 from the Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner as part of a community project which aims to transform garden spaces in the local area in association with Liverpool City Council.

Daisy Inclusive UK are one of a number of organisations from across the Everton and Vauxhall area to have benefited from the extra resource, which will help reduce crime and anti-social behaviour as well as protecting vulnerable people from becoming victims of crime and anti-social behaviour.

The charity is utilising the funds for its SAM (Support, Advice and Maintenance) Project. With many disabled people, their disability can prove a barrier to them looking after their homes and gardens. A poorly maintained property can advertise the fact that there is someone vulnerable living there, making them a target, while overgrown gardens spilling onto neighbouring properties can also be a cause of disputes.

As part of SAM, Daisy Inclusive UK is assisting in maintaining those gardens in addition to keeping in touch with residents to help combat loneliness and isolation.

The work will be undertaken by Merseyside Grounds Maintenance, a family run company with over 15 years’ experience.

Dave Kelly, Daisy Inclusive UK CEO, said: “The funding received from the Merseyside Police and Crime Commissioner will make a significant difference to the gardens of vulnerable people in the local area and we are extremely grateful for their support.

“This project is more than tackling crime – it’s about listening to the community whilst promoting stories of resilience and creating spaces where people feel safe.”
