It’s Brain Awareness Week 2025 and to mark the campaign, we’ve put the spotlight on our amazing beneficiary Frankie, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour after collapsing at Daisy Inclusive UK in 2021.
Frankie, an avid Liverpool FC supporter was rushed to hospital where they found a benign tumour on his brain. Surgeons operated on him for more than six hours to remove the tumor successfully and Frankie is thankfully here to tell the story today.
“I remember coming to Daisy one day in 2021 and feeling absolutely fine, but then I suddenly felt really hot and the next minute I’m being rushed to the hospital,” said Frankie.
“I had a series of brain scans and MRI scans, and they found a benign tumor on my brain. I agreed that it needed to be removed and the procedure got underway, with surgeons going up my nose to try and remove it.
“I was told afterwards that they were unable to remove all of it and that there were still little bits left. To this day, I have to go for regular check-ups.”
Dave Kelly, Daisy Inclusive UK CEO said: “We all think the world of Frankie here at Daisy. He’s a brave lad and never moans about his condition. That’s Frankie for you.”
The brain is the most important organ in the human body.
It is our command center, controlling everything from memory and movement to basics like the beating of your heart and breathing. Without a healthy brain, daily life becomes more difficult or even impossible.
