Cervical screening workshop at Daisy Inclusive UK

Daisy Inclusive UK recently hosted a cervical screening workshop at its centre in Everton as part of an ongoing commitment to educating people with disabilities about the importance of regular health checks.

Presented by GP Practice Nurse Tina Swift, the interactive session gave women of all ages the opportunity to ask questions and understand what a cervical screening procedure entails.

Ran in conjunction with the Anfield & Everton Primary Care Network and Liverpool City Council, the session was co-ordinated by Daisy Inclusive UK Support Worker Kate Craven and Community Champion Lisa McCann.

Kate, who recently graduated as a Student Nurse from Edge Hill University, spoke openly about her own conditions of endometriosis and polycystic ovaries.

“I love anything to do with promoting health,” said Kate.

“I’ve been in hospital wards and I’ve just finished my management placement at Liverpool Women’s Hospital on the gynaecological ward.

“It’s really important that we educate those with disabilities and make it clear that they have the same rights as anyone to go and have a screening.”
